INS warns advertising agencies against unfair business practices

The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has warned certain advertising agencies over the increasing prevalence of unfair business practices. INS has observed instances where these agencies are offering significantly discounted rates to potential clients on behalf of Member Publications, without obtaining proper approvals from the concerned publications.

Such practices have been deemed by INS as both unfair and detrimental to the healthy functioning of the industry. These actions are in direct violation of the Agreement executed by the advertising agencies, as per the Rules & Regulations Governing Accreditation of Advertising Agencies and Media Services Agencies.

In light of these concerns, INS reiterates its call to all advertising agencies to desist from engaging in such practices. Failure to comply with this advisory may result in severe consequences. INS reserves the right to take strong action, which could potentially include the issuance of a Notice of Disaccreditation. It's imperative for the agencies to understand that they will be held responsible for all the ramifications arising from such actions.
