Is Abhishek Bachchan transitioning to dad roles?

Abhishek Bachchan is geared for not one but two new filns – one is helmed by Remo D’ Souza, titled ‘Be Happy’, and another one is Shoojit Sircar’s untitled drama. Both the films were announced recently and interestingly, both of them will see Abhishek playing a father.

Remo’s film was initially titled ‘Dancing Dad’. The film talks about a father played by Abhishek, who goes to any lengths to fulfil his daughter’s (played byInayat Verma) dream of becoming a dancer and make her happy. The film is written by Remo and Tushar Hiranandani, and features Nora Fatehi, Johnny Lever and Nasser.

Without revealing much about the film, Abhishek said, “A good film makes me happy and I hope we have managed to make a good film, especially for this pocket dynamo, which we have.”

Remo gave a hint of the subject of the film and said, “Giving happiness to someone makes me happy and this film actually talks about that.”

For his second film, Abhishek will be teaming up with noted director Shoojit Sircar. Sometimes life gives us a second chance, and for Arjun, who settled in the US in pursuit of completing his big  American Dream, it is an opportunity to rediscover and embrace the precious bond he shares with his daughter. It is an emotional journey with an entertaining narrative. Through this story, the makers are going to show how a father and daughter share a strong bond as they navigate through life’s surprises. The film will compel the audience to discover the true value of life’s fleeting moments, learning to cherish each one. The heart-warming tale is a celebration of life in its everyday, ordinary chaos.

Shoojit, known not to give away his plots, said, “I have always tried to pick up subjects which are from ordinary lives, and make those characters extraordinary through my films. All the films that you saw, they just make you smile looking at life. So, all the subjects that I have done so far are somehow related to me. I have seen those characters, I have lived with those characters, whether it is Dan from ‘October’ or any other character from my other film, so this is a similar film where I can only assure you that I can make you feel warm.”

Shoojit’s film is produced by his banner Rising Sun Films, along with Kino Works LLP with their partners Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. The Shoojit Sircar directorial will also feature Johnny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo, and Jayant Kriplani.

Incidentally, Abhishek and Inayat played father and daughter in Anurag Basu’s ‘Ludo’ and their chemistry was well received. Prior to that, Abhishek had played father to his real-life dad Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Paa’, where Big B was seen as a child suffering from the ailment called progeria.
