Karmma Calling Review: Unimpressive Acting & Predictable Plot

An Indian adaptation of American series Revenge (which I haven't seen), Karmma Calling appears more like a Vikram Bhatt movie extended to a seven episodes web-series. Worse, it doesn't even climax properly (pun intended), though it reveals a critical murder right at the beginning. Oh no!!!

There's some big bank scam, where the innocent guy (Rohit Roy, mostly seen behind poor CGI bars) gets jailed while his closet lover (Raveena Tandon) and her amorous hubby (suited booted dude) move on to become the elite honchos of Alibaug. This place, close to Mumbai, is depicted as some Beverly Hills of India, where the richie rich party day in and day out. Oho!! I was actually there a couple of weeks ago and trust me, it ain't such a fab celebrity spot at all. Sorry!!!

Chuck that; our leading lady Karmma (Namrata Sheth) makes life hell for these elite Alibaugers ruled by the Kotharis (Raveena and family). She befriends the Kothari heir Ahaan (Varun Sood) as a bait. This dude is appropriately called Mr. Protein Shake. Ahh, well!!!

The rest of the series is a pretty predictable fare, where you can easily make out who will double cross whom and who will bed whom. You can say a typical Vikram Bhatt directorial, though its not him at the helm. The director is Ruchi Narain!!

Namrata Sheth resembles the current crush of India, Tripti Dimri but lacks her acting skills. The 'Mast Mast' Raveena is truly the saving grace here but even she can't save this bland revenge dish from turning in to an unmitigated disaster. Give it a cold shoulder!!
