Killer Jeans moves Bombay HC against Netflix for ‘Killer Soup’ series

The use of the word ‘Killer’ in a web series being streamed on Netflix has become a bone of contention for Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (KKCL), who has alleged trademark infringement.

KKCL, which owns the denim wear brand Killer Jeans, has approached Bombay High Court claiming Rs 25 crore in damages over a web series named ‘Killer Soup’ streaming on Netflix, citing infringement of trademark.

KKCL had sent legal notices to Netflix and Macguffin Pictures, makers of ‘Killer Soup’, in January 2024 seeking removal of the word ‘Killer’ from the name of the web series and all promotional material.

The first hearing in the case was held on March 11, 2024.
