Kolkata's Business Stalwart Khokan Mookerji Passes Away

Khokan Mookerji, a distinguished figure in the corporate world, bid farewell to this world at the age of 83. He served as the former secretary-general and chief mentor of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leaving an indelible mark on the business landscape. With a remarkable 30-year career at ITC, he held various senior positions, contributing significantly to the company's growth and success.

Indranil Gupta, Founder-Director of BrandNEW Associates Pvt Ltd, expressed his condolences, stating, "Khokan Mookerji (23-11-1940 to 21-03-2024). Much loved and respected in the world of marketing and advertising. Advertising Manager at ITC Limited through the 70s and 80s. President of Advertising Club Calcutta and many other associations."

The Founder & Managing Director of BEI Confluence Communication Limited also shared his thoughts, saying, "My first and till date (after 47 years!) the finest gentleman I have met as a client and a thorough professional. Had the privilege of being Khokan's Account Service person for 11 years from Clarion McCann ( later Clarion Advertising) from a Mgt Trainee to VP on ITC business, working on India Kings, Classic, Gold Flake, Capstan cigarette brands. Khokan contributed and encouraged my learning n growth as a professional and have been very supportive of all the Agencies he worked with.


May God give him peace in his heavenly abode."

Mookerji was instrumental in leading ITC's major diversification ventures, particularly in the domains of hotels and agri-business. His strategic acumen and leadership were evident in his role as a core member of ITC's investments and diversification planning group.
