LinkedIn opens up publishing platform to all members

LinkedIn has announced that starting today, it is opening up its publishing platform to all its members, as well as adding a new crop of Influencers.

Where previously only select Influencers could publish long-form content, now, members can also publish original content tied to their professional identities. This content then becomes part of their professional profile, is shared with their trusted network and has the ability to reach the largest group of professionals ever assembled. LinkedIn today has 277 million members globally, of which 50 million are based in Asia Pacific. Combined, members have more than 434 million years of experience.

LinkedIn has also announced that it is adding a new crop of India Influencersto directly share their expertise with professionals on LinkedIn. Pepsico CEO Indra Nooyi, and Swati Piramal, Vice Chairperson, Piramal Enterprises Ltd will now contribute their thought leadership content in the form of influencer posts on LinkedIn, building on the 

existing pool of Indian influencers, includingKris Gopalakrishnan - Executive vice chairman, Infosys;Anant Gupta - President and Chief Executive Officer, HCL Technologies;Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw - Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited and Nandan Nilkani - Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India.

Today’s announcement is the next big step towards achieving LinkedIn’s goal of becoming a definitive publishing platform for professionals, helping members become better in their jobs by giving them a single destination to consume, create and share relevant professional content.

The ability to publish original content will begin with a small group of LinkedIn’s English-speaking member base, and will expand to all members in the coming months. Members will be notified by email as and when they are eligible to publish content on the platform.
