McDonald's celebrates latest Shrek film with a Shrek Festival

It is simply amazing how kids drive the world of advertising. It is amazing how kids drive the world, in fact! This McDonald's activity is being done primarily keeping kids in mind. And that's not a bad thing at all. All the time we see products being advertised for women to lift their faces up or men being taught them how to shave. Not this time though. This time, McDonald's is going all out and celebrating its association with animated movie, Shrek.

McDonald's, the world's leading food service retailer, is celebrating the association with the most awaited movie Shrek through a two month long "Shrek Festival" starting from 1st May to 30th June 2010 in all McDonald's outlets across India. The celebration will come to life with the Shrek theme followed at every restaurant. It is learned that McDonald's is investing approximately Rs 20 million to promote the festival in Indian sub continent.

Expectedly, McDonald's has made additions to its menu. It has introduced a Shrek Meal and a Shrek dessert. The celebration wave will encapsulate the moment one reaches a McDonald's restaurant with a welcome Shrek Festival gate followed by the restaurant ambience which would be done in line with the festive theme through danglers, 3D standees, standees on table top, above the bin, crew members wearing caps and T-shirts.

A new dessert called Shrek Dessert, available in exciting mint-guava flavour, which would be the flavour of the month during the festive season at McDonald's would be a highlight item. There are other attractions for the food lovers too. Shrek meal, a jumbo meal like the Shrek himself which would include a happy meal, a burger, fries, soft drink, and the Shrek dessert, all for Rs 179 and Rs 199 for veg and non-veg respectively.

However, kids are the nucleus of focus here and a Shrek Happy Meal is on offer for them. It comes with a complete range of 13 Shrek special poke and talk toys. The toys will be divided into two sets viz ' Pokin starting 1st May ' 4th June followed by Chatter 5th June ' 30th June. Pokin comprises of 7 Shrek Talking toys namely ' Shrek, Rumpelstiltskin, Donkey, Fiona, Gingy, Brogan and Puss In the Boots where one just need to poke the toys as directed and the toy will respond with a funny sound whereas Chatter would have another set of 6 toys and these toys talk when an action like pulling a hand etc is performed on them.
