Ekta Kapoor hunts for lead actors for upcoming show

She never ceases to amaze, does she? Ekta Kapoor, after going all out with her "K' serials (do we have a Guinness Record for that?), she surprised everyone by producing and distributing a one-off film like Love Sex aur Dhokha (LSD).

What is interesting here is that in all her ah-it's-like-watching-a-lifetime-go-by soaps, the women have always been somewhat displayed as traditional, suppressed lot. By contrast, LSD was all about modern day circumstances surrounding the modern society that we are becoming. The women were a whole lot more outlandish in comparison, to say the least.

Now, as she prepares to do a comeback show on STAR Plus, Ekta Kapoor wants that to be her most memorable body of work yet. The show, titled, Tere Liye, is touted to be a romantic saga and, as advertised, something that will become a talking point for the Indian audience very soon.

Ekta Kapoor, credited with creating reel characters like Sujal-Kashish, Om-Parvati, and the most famous Tulsi-Mihir, is on a lead hunt this time round. Her mission? To find the next couple ' Taani and Anurag.

Social networking sites like Facebook and Orkut are the obvious places to hunt for fresh, good looking faces owing to the massive database of youth that they offer. And Ekta's team of eight members is doing just so. The team investing night and day, surfing through profiles of young and fresh faces, age group 18-25 on all social networking sites to hunt for the leads that can portray Taani and Anuraag.

Now, with reality shows like Dance India Dance and Indian Idol make a dancing star and a singing star, respectively, out of ordinary people and put them on the global map of talent. This is the right time for ordinary, non-industry people to try out their luck and make it to the latest from Ekta Kapoor's stable. So, if you think you're good looking enough to decorate the screens of our television sets and can pull off a dialogue with some emotions, keep your fingers crossed.

And since we don't quite fall in the "good looking' category and are not good at acting either, we'll keep our fingers busy with writing about your selection and the progress thereon. All the best to everyone!
