MIB extends deadline for public feedback on Broadcasting Services Bill

On Thursday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) announced an extension of the deadline for public feedback and suggestions on the draft Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill 2023 until January 15, 2024.

Initially, the ministry had set the deadline for submission on December 9, 2023. The decision to extend the deadline was made in response to representations received from various quarters following the ministry's Public Notice dated November 10, 2023.
The proposed Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill 2023 aims to establish a comprehensive legal framework for the entire broadcasting sector, intending to replace the current Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 and other existing policy guidelines governing the broadcasting sector in the country.
