MIB issues advisory on Public Service Broadcasting

Attention is invited to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's Advisory dated 30.01 .2023 whereby all the private satellite TV channels were advised to undertake Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) in terms of Clause 35 of the Guidelines for Uplinking and Downlinking of Satellite Television Channels in India, 2022 dated 09.11.2022.

The aforesaid advisory was issued to guide the broadcasters on content, accounting, reporting and identification of PSB Obligations and the channels were advised to file monthly report with effect from 01.03.2023. For ease of compliance for PSB obligations by the broadcasters, Ministry also provided bulk uploading facility for online filing of the PSB Report on the Broadcast Seva Portal (BS Portal) and also intimated the same to the Broadcasters in the month of May 2023. The Ministry has noted that broadcasters, both News & Current Affairs as well as Non-news & Current Affairs, have started filing the PSB Report through the BS Portal.

All the private satellite TV Channels permitted by the Ministry are again advised to comply with the aforesaid Advisory dated 30.01.2023 and upload the monthly PSB Report on the BS Portal latest by 7 day of the following month.

This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
