Mumbai’s Biggest Kabaddi League ends on a bang!

The biggest Kabaddi League from the mega-city of Mumbai concluded on a high with the six Maha Champion Teams coming into the limelight! The league in its second season gave a voice to 500+ kabaddi athletes to show and hone their skills. The league had 12 franchises and 36 teams with each franchise having three teams in three different age categories, the Seniors, the Juniors and the Sub-Juniors. The 12 teams in this league included Mumbai Ultras Kabaddi Club, Gavali Dhurandhar, Mumbai che Maharaje, Raje Chandra rao Warriors, Borivali Bahubali, August Kranti Express, Goregaon Gladiators and Namo Bharat Chembur in the men's category and Goregaon Gladiators, Mumbai chi Mahashakti, Mumbai Upnagar Express and Mumbai Ultras Kabaddi Club in the women's category. Out of the 12 franchises, four were Women’s franchises and eight were men's franchises.

The league took place at the University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus, from the 13th of August 2022 to the 28th of August 2022. The franchise based structure of the tournament helped the players come out of their comfort zone and engage with other players and get exposed to newer processes and ideologies about the game. The league ensured fair practices and transparent player journey, encouraging the spirit of sports! The league was graced by the presence of the who’s who from the sports community. The names included Arjuna Award winner, ex-kabaddi player Mrs. Monika Nath, the Pro Kabaddi League star Sushant Sail of Puneri Paltan. The league also hosted some of the dignitaries from the Maharashtra Kabaddi Association, including the State and National Level Women Kabaddi Players of the yesteryears at the Exhibition Match. The league proved to be a great leveller for the emerging sports talent and the audiences showered it with immense love and support. The league got 800k + views with 15 Mn+ digital impressions across all platforms!

The Sheru Classic Maha Mumbai Kabaddi League happened to be one of its kind with SportVot using its innovative cloud technology to digitise the entire player journey for this tournament.
