Mumbai to host grand finale of Bridgestone World Series Hockey

The Bridgestone World Series Hockey announced here today that the MHA Mahindra Stadium in Mumbai will host the grand finale of the inaugural edition on April 2, 2012 at 9pm. The MHA Mahindra Stadium, which underwent massive revamping for the WSH, was chosen out of eight venues across India based on the feedback from the players playing in the league that “the quality of the turf and floodlights is superb”

The spanking new MHA Mahindra Stadium will also host the second semi-final to be played on April 1, 2012 at 9pm. Karnataka, which is one of the biggest hockey bases in the world, will host the first semi-final at the KSHA Stadium, Bengaluru, to be held at 7pm on April 1.

Making this announcement, Preeti Mehta, Event Director of Bridgestone World Series Hockey said, “The response from the fans has been overwhelming at all the eight venues, but we had to finally zero in on two venues for the Semi-finals and Final. WSH wanted to give the best makeover to the MHA Mahindra Stadium, and we are pleased that the players are very happy with the quality of the turf and the floodlights. The competition in the league has been sensational and we hope to dazzle the hockey lovers with spectacular shows in the Semi-finals and Final. We are confident that both Bengaluru and Mumbai will rock with hockey.”
