Netflix's actors' roundtable

To celebrate the great year 2021 was in the space of entertainment, Netflix hosted a roundtable with the best of actors and creators this year. From leaving us at the edge of our seats guessing the end with Haseen Dillruba to taking us on the unusual journey of recently widowed Sandhya in Pagglait to giving us our very own desi superhero with Minnal Murali, Netflix did it all! Covering a variety of genres, the streaming space in India surely offered a lot of loved characters in 2021. As part of the roundtable, some of fan favourites spoke about how they nail playing their characters so perfectly, here's what they have to say!

Talking about the trick he uses to play his character perfectly, Tovino Thomas shared, "For me, the smell is associated with memories. When I was in 10th standard and when I got the new books and new uniforms, I was reminded of the first day of kindergarten. So while I am shooting for a film from day one I would use one single perfume and when I use the same perfume it helps me as a reminder of the character's traits to do complete justice to it. For Minnal Murali this perfume for me was Carolina Herrera’s Bad Boy and coincidentally the bottle looks like a lightning bolt, resembling the film."

Taapsee Pannu added to this saying, "It is just to put you in the zone, I don't choose scents based on a character. It is just one perfume I use through one particular film, it is because the sense of smell takes you back in the zone of that character."

Sanya Malhotra talking about her experience during Pagglait also added, "I think it is the senses, I think my strongest sense is the smell. I think it gets me back to the character like for Pagglait I did the same. Even when I use a perfume that I have used in the past for a film, it takes me back to that character. This is even more helpful especially when you’re shooting two films together as you can differentiate and it helps more with the characterization."
