News Channels not allowed to show any coverage of IPL Season-3

In a dramatic turn of event IPL/SETMax has barred all news channels to show any coverage of IPL Season-3. This was told to News Broadcasters Association (NBA) in a meeting held on February 16, 2010, between NBA and IPL/ SetMax.

An official release by NBA states that "In 2008 the IPL/SETMax had drawn up a set of norms for use of cricket footage of IPL matches, in negotiation and agreement with the News Broadcasters Association (NBA), which has been followed ever since"

The statement further confirms "However, the NBA regrets that at a meeting held on February 16, 2010, the IPL/SETMax have arbitrarily refused to abide by their commitment as contained in the 2008 norms".

There is no news so far on NBA trying to further take up the matter with IPL/SETMax or to derive to a solution. The official release of NBA has declared that in view of the position taken by IPL/SETMax, no news channels will be able to offer their viewers any coverage in relation to IPL Season-3.
