NYE'24 broke all records across Swiggy and Swiggy instamart: Rohit Kapoor

As the clock struck midnight, Swiggy marked a new milestone, wrapping up New Year's Eve with record-breaking orders. The night saw an overwhelming demand, especially for larger orders, as users prepared for festive gatherings.

From delicious cuisines to party essentials like chips and drinks, Swiggy and Swiggy instamart became the go-to choice for New Year's Eve celebrations. Notably, Dineout witnessed a surge in year-end party bookings, reflecting a growing trend for reservations. By the evening, both Swiggy's food delivery and instamart services surpassed the highs of the previous year, making it a memorable celebration for everyone.

Food Trends

  • India said a big YES to Biryani! hitting a peak of 1244 Biryanis ordered per minute
  • Over 4.8 lakh biryanis were ordered on the platform. The top 3 cities ordering the most Biryani were Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.

Swiggy’s surprise for a user went viral-

  • 1,04,12,762 people ordered food for others this year, and Swiggy promptly responded & sent goodies to the ONE user who had nothing sent to him and needed some pampering
  • The big orders had started coming in early to beat the rush, as a customer from Hyderabad placed 33 orders
  • Mumbai took the crown for ordering the highest number of Idli-vadas on NYE
  • In a noteworthy instance, a single order with  95 samosas originated from Bangalore, while another substantial order for 200 packets of ketchup was placed from Surat,

Quick commerce trends

  • Swiggy instamart witnessed skyrocketing demand for nimbu and partysmart pills
  • Someone from Kolkata placed 35 orders on Swiggy instamart consisting of 914 items, worth Rs 48,950! The best NYE party probably happened in the City of Joy            
  • More than 500 packs of Uno were ordered on the eve of New Years
  • Swiggy instamart witnessed a 10x increase in searches for tonic water, cocktail mixers and glasses. India partied like never before to ring in '2024
  • More than 22,000 users ordered Amul buttermilk!
  • Condom orders peaked at 1722 condoms per hour
  • Over 4377 users ordered Red Bull to get in the party spirit
  • Delhi spent a whopping 16 Lakhs on Chips and mixers
  • Setting in the festive spirit with pets, 1220 pedigree packets were also ordered on NYE

Delivery Executives posed the iconic ‘Jevlis Ka?’ with a group picture, ending the year ensuring that everyone has had a fulfilling meal.

This was simultaneously as the CEO of the food marketplace, Rohit Kapoor announced about Free Deliveries throughout the night across quick commerce and food orders
