Ogilvy's Portfolio Night8 received amazing participation

You might just recall Adgully doing an article around Ogilvy's Portfolio Night. If not, check this out (CHICK HERE). And now, the initial activity is over, enjoying immense success in the bargain. There's a lot that can happen over a cup of coffee; for example, the concept for ihaveanidea's very first Portfolio Night.

The idea of portfolio reviews is nothing new, but the ihaveanidea team wanted to build upon such experiences. There was a want to create a social event to unite the entire national industry, both the present and future superstars, to work on building a bright new generation of ad creatives. With this goal in mind, Ignacio, Jay, Brendan and Nat began to iron out the details of a new kind of portfolio review, discussing it all in a hip coffee shop in the Cabbagetown district of Toronto, Canada.

Sixty nine Participants from across fourteen cities in India, and one from Chicago, have registered to have their portfolios reviewed at Portfolio Night 8 tonight. The participants have come from as far as Noida, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Surat, Chennai, Ernakulam and Chicago. Sadly though, the registrations were invited only till May 19th. These participants broadly come from Art schools and Ad agencies. The anticipation, persistence and excitement from the participants who have registered, has been phenomenal. Portfolio Night is clearly a much needed platform in India.

Abhijit Avasthi, National Creative Director, Ogilvy India, said "Fresh talent is the lifeline of our industry¦our principal raw material so to say. Portfolio Night is a fabulous initiative to mine more of it."

Portfolio Night 8 was held in 39 cities around the world on May 20, 2010. The mission of ihaveanidea is to serve the international advertising industry as a centre of self-analysis and intellectual growth, based on the concept that disseminating and sharing creative knowledge will benefit everyone in advertising.
