Punjab Association Celebrates Baisakhi with a Bang Chief Minister presides over Baisakhi function as Chief Guest

The Punjab Association celebrated their 54th Baisakhi in Mumbai on the 13th of April at Ravindra Natya Mandir. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan presided over the event as Chief Guest and was also felicitated by the Punjab Association. The audience, which included notable names like Yash Chopra, Prem Chopra, Lord Raj Loomba (CBE), were regaled by the performance of the Punjabi powerhouse Gurdas Mann. 

On the occasion the guests expressed their pride in the Punjabi Community and their contribution to the country. In the true spirit of “BAISAKHI” which is the commencing of Spring and a time of harvest and prosperity, the event was filled with grand music, color and the spirit of celebration. 

Gurdas Mann and his troupe wowed the audience with the dhol beats and the essence of bhangra with fantastic performance which kept the spirits of the audience high and happy. Guests were dancing in their seats and cheering and having a great time.

Punjab Association is a pioneer body of Maharastrian Punjabis living in Mumbai, founded by late actor Shri Prithviraj Kapoor  in 1959. Since last 53 years they have been organizing various programmes for promoting Punjabi culture in the Mumbai and also serve Punjabi community in the state of Maharashtra. Every year the Punjab Association organizes and celebrates festivals like Lohri, Holi, Baisakhi, Dassera, Diwali and other religious programmes and is also involved in charitable projects. Its previous  charitable work includes providing free scholarship to the needy students, sewing machines to widows, Medical Centre at Koliwada, Antop Hill etc.
