"Rang De Basanti inspired me to take up cinema" says Vir Das

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Rang De Basanti’ changed the way people looked at Indian cinema. Not only did the movie inspire the audience, but it also worked its magic on India’s finest comedian, Vir Das. The versatile actor with a funny bone, who has many stand-up shows across the world to his credit, was inspired to take up acting and the movie changed his view of Indian cinema.

The actor has a busy 15 months ahead, as 6 of his movies are due for release in this period. Talking about the reason behind him becoming an actor, Vir Das says, “For me, it is very important to believe in the kind of movies I do.’Rang De Basanti' made me feel good about Indian cinema. The movie instilled in me, a confidence so strong, that I wanted to be a part of the revolution in Bollywood.”

The actor has changed the way comedy is perceived in India, and is busy juggling between his films and stand up shows. Vir Das' upcoming movies include ‘Santa Banta’, ‘Amit Sahni Ki List’  and ‘Saxxx ki Dukaan’, among others.
