RCB wins maiden WPL title over DC in TATA WPL 2024

In a low-scoring game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore triumphed over the Delhi Capitals to win their maiden title in the second season of the TATA WPL. Winning the toss for DC, Meg Lanning chose to bat first. With an aggressive start, DC reached 61 for 0 wickets after 6 overs. However, despite the electric start, DC was bundled out for just 113 runs by RCB bowlers. Sophie Molineux took 3 wickets for just 20 runs in her 4-over spell, eventually winning the Player of the Match award.

While chasing down the target of 114 runs, RCB had a slow start but managed to chase it down with 8 wickets in hand and a couple of deliveries to spare. The team played well under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana. Both RCB players Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil won the Orange Cap for the most runs and the Purple Cap for the most wickets in the tournament, respectively. Perry scored 347 runs throughout the tournament, while Shreyanka Patil bagged 13 wickets for her purple cap.

Deepti Sharma was named the Player of the Tournament for her splendid all-round performances. She scored 295 runs in eight matches including three half-centuries. Deepti also took 10 wickets in eight games.
