Red Bull Air Race set for take off again!

Pushing the limits of competitive sport to a new high, the Red Bull Air Race World Championship is back in the skies with an eight-race calendar, staged in six countries across three different continents. The first race of the season kicks off this weekend in Abu Dhabi on the 28th of February.

The fastest and fiercest global motorsport series, Red Bull Air Race utilizes the most agile, lightweight racing planes. This one-of-its-kind air sport combines speed,

precision and skill, as the competing pilots race in high-performance airplanes, between 15 and 25 metres above the ground, navigating a challenging obstacle course of Air Gate pylons at speeds of up to 370kph.

Apart from the steely performances, the Red Bull Air Race 2014 will also mark a number of technical improvements over its previous avatar including standard engines and propellers for all pilots, plane friendly lightweight, nylon pylons and raising the height of the pylons that the pilots pass through from 20 to 25 metres.

The World Championship features 12 pilots from Japan to Australia to the Czech Republic to Austria to Canada. The reigning champion from the last world championship Paul Bonhomme of the United Kingdom is also in the mix and will be looking to defend his title.

An exciting feature of the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship will be the debut of the Challenger Cup that will give a new generation of talented pilots from around the world a chance to experience the thrills of the sport.
