Renault plans to launch "Compact car' in India

Renault ' A French auto major plan to launch the compact car segment in India with the help of its Japanese partner Nissan. Renault will be using Nissan's global platform for driving into this segment.

On the same, Katsumi Nakamura, Executive Vice-President, Renault Asia Africa Management Committee said, "We have a partnership with Nissan and Nissan has a platform for such type of car (compact car) and we can use that platform. We have some discussion over this."

He added, "Renault is studying the Indian market and evaluating the right kind of product, including exploring its existing products, for the compact car segment. For the small car, we are studying what kind of car is the most appropriate for us."

On Renault's plans for India, Nakamura said, "From small to luxury cars, we are interested in all the segments. In fact, the company plans to roll out its first luxury car - "sedan Fluence' from its Chennai plant by 2011."
