Settled comfortably on my couch, with plenty of snacks by my side, ‘Haseen Dillruba’ on Netflix turned out to be the perfect weekend watch. A thriller and a murder mystery, ‘Haseen Dillruba’ might not be the ‘kaunspiracy’ of epic proportions, but it intrigues one well enough.

What is true love in today’s world of instant gratification?
Starting off with a blast, literally, ‘Haseen Dillruba’ sees a love triangle emerge in the small town of Jwalapur, where Pati (Vikrant Massey as Rishu), Patni (Taapsee Pannu as Rani Kashyap) and Voh (Harshvardhan Rane as Neel) get tangled in a web of their own making. Whenever middle-class meets femme fatale, the results are not exactly going to be as per one’s liking. So turns out to be the fate of middle-class engineer and simple boy next door Rishu, who falls in love with and marries the hot and outgoing Rani.

As love fails to take their relationship forward, enter Rishu’s dashing cousin Neel, who woos and seduces Rani.
A blast in Rishu’s house leaves behind a dead body and a lot of questions, most of them directed at Rani, who is the prime suspect in the eyes of Inspector Kishore Rawat. Rawat interrogates Rani as to why she killed her husband. But is she the killer? What happened at Rishu’s house before the blast? The several twists and turns keep the viewers hooked till the end.
