What new things can we expect from you this year?

A bigger canvas and many new stunts. This year we were in Cape Town for 50 days -- probably the longest schedule. Every year when we come back, we know there will be a challenge to do better and more challenges for us gives the audience more entertainment.

How do you prepare a new stunt?

That’s a lot of hard work, and we research for almost six months before we start shooting. It’s a major brainstorming process. When we talk to contestants, they find you to be an ultimate motivator.

Why do you think that is?

I think this is my passion and also our family business (laughs)! I have been doing this for so long and more importantly I know how someone can execute a stunt so the contestants also seek motivation from me whenever they are stuck. I may not connect at this level for any music or dance based reality show but when it comes to Khatron Ke Khiladi, it’s different.

What was your fear while growing up?

People may feel that I am very confident but in my childhood I used to be scared of crowds and also had stage fright.

You have been working with crew over the years, how do you feel about this tradition?

I have got all my good ethics and values from my father. I have seen him working in the industry for a long time. There used to be Guru Sishya parampara earlier and now hardly we see that tradition. So I think it's important that I keep it going. I also have a good work relationship with my crew so no need to change it.

People refer to you as the 'Hit Machine' but your last work in 'Cirkus' has not done well at the Box Office...what do you have to say?

I take all the responsibility. That was an experiment and people did not like it. I will not try to do anything new now. And this was not the first time I tasted failure, in the initial years of my career I have seen failures but I have only learnt from those failures, I don't regret them since they're just a part of the journey.

What gives you happiness?

My work, I am a workaholic person so my life revolves around my work.

You have a very special connection with the Police Force - how has that developed?

I had made a film called Singham, it’s been 10 years since that and after the success of that film, I have never forgotten the service of our policemen.

Do you feel films from the South are a threat to Hindi films?

Not at all, there was a time in the 80’s when many filmmakers from the South were making films in Mumbai. Now actors like Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon are a part of popular South films. Yes, I agree taking audiences to the theatre is a big challenge now. For the big screen we have to think differently and out of the box.
