The veteran singer too was floored by the talent and praised the tiny singing prodigies to the moon and beyond. Asha Tai teamed up with the kids and gave them some priceless tips. As a celebration of Asha’s Ji 75 years of career, these tiny tots geared up to sing duets of some of her timeless melodies. Each performance left Asha ji in awe as these small wonders managed such difficult songs which otherwise take years of practice and maturity to sing. Every song sung by Asha Ji not only became a raging hit, but also had some interesting back stories behind them!

Li’l Champs Shreyan Bhattacharya and Riya Biswas took the stage and performed Asha ji and Mohammad Rafi’s famous duet ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar Tera’. Listening to the song Asha Tai was teleported back into time as she recounted that she sang this song for RD Burman in the early 70’s. Back then when she heard the song, she panicked as the first thought was that it is a very difficult song and she will not be able to sing it. She asked Mr. Burman to give her 8 days to decide and the entire way from the studio to her house she kept singing the song repetitively. When she returned after eight days, RD Burman laid a bet of 500 rupees that she would be able to sing the song better than Mohammad Rafi. When the two of them finished singing the song, she had won with flying colors and Pancham Da won his bet!

Known to be the reincarnation of Kishore Da Dhroon Tickoo along with the queen of yodeling Shanmukhapriya sang the peppy hit song ‘Panch Rupaya Barah Anna’. During the performance Asha ji felt as if Kishore Kumar himself was singing live in front of her. Sharing some fond memories of Kishore Da….Asha ji told everyone how hilarious and full of life he was! With his superb comic timing and wit, Kishore da used to turn every recording session into a laughter riot. When she complained about her throat becoming sore from laughing hard, he would laugh and tell her that that was his motive behind making himself look like a better singer in front of her. Asha ji recalled an incident where the duo were performing at a function in Calcutta. Suddenly in the middle of the performance Kishore Da lay down flat on the stage and started singing. She forgot her song and started laughing loudly.
