Sachin Khedekar back on TV; To host of 'Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati'

One of the veteran actors of Marathi films and theatre is making a comeback on one of the most famed Marathi channel. ETV Marathi. Sachin  Khedekar, is the man who has proved himself as an actor with his Marathi films like Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy, Kaksparsh, Fakt Ladh Mana and many more and also contributed in Hindi films like Netaji Subahas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, Astitva, Singham, remake version of Agneepath and others.

Now the actor is all set to make a comeback on ETV Marathi as host of Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati the Marathi version of one of the most popular shows on Indian TV screens viz. Kaun Banega Crorepati.

In an exclusive interaction he spoke about his return to the small screen. He said, “I am excited about this role as I am making an entry on television  screens after more than a decade and I also feel that this is one of the best ways for me to make a comeback.”

Sharing his  thoughts about this offer, he said, “I was happy and a bit nervous too as this is a very tough task considering Amitabh Bachchan has hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati in the past and 

had done fairly well. So, responsibility and fitting me in his shoes as a host could be a challenging thing. I believe in Amitabh Bachchan and am a big fan of his as I’ve grown up watching his films. KBC is a show which is quite synonymous with his name and I’ll try to match up with him. If I can prove even 10 percent I’ll feel I’ve done well.”

This show will cater to Marathi audiences, but if a person is a non-Maharashtrian and wants to participate in the show he can if he knows the language and can write and talk well in Marathi. 

“I feel this show offers a great opportunity for Marathi people especially as here it’s not just about luck but also about the knowledge that person acquires in life. It’s a great platform to learn and earn,” said, Sachin.

He added, “Rather than being strict or judgmental with  my contestants I’ll be a friend and companion to them throughout the show. Since like them I too will be  guessing the right answers, so I am gaining a lot through this show.”

As an actor he considers this show as a good opportunity for him as unlike his  past roles  in his films this role is completely different and he will be able to engage himself with common people who will  participate in the show.

An emotional Sachin said, “ I am a bit nervous as of now, but I am sure that as the show takes off  I’ll equip myself and handle the responsibility of being host for this show in a much better way. I am rehearsing a lot for it and also spreading  the essence of the Marathi culture, history and tradition throughout the country as this is the best platform.”

Sachin also mentioned that his mother liked watching KBC seasons and she always appreciated the way in which Amitabh Bachchan connected well with his  audience thereby making them feel secure and comfortable. The support from his entire family was  also one of the reasons for him to agree to host this show.

On asking whether he will be replicating  Amitabh Bacchan’s style, he said, “At times I do feel  like imitating  him as I have watched all the six seasons of KBC. But I’ll just stick to being myself and will host it in my way and that will make participants more comfortable, and  will also maintain the dignity and strict format of the show.”

Where KBC has a prize money of Rs. 5 crore, Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati is offering a chance to win  Rs 1 crore prize money by correctly answering 15 questions with the help of four available life lines.

Kon Hoeel Marathi Crorepati premiering from May 6 2013  will be telecast from Monday to Thursday in the 9pm slot only on ETV Marathi. It’s time to say- ‘Nau vajle ka’.
