Sachin Tendulkar expresses disturbance over 'Misuse of AI Technology'

The maestro of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, is the latest to have become a victim of deepfake content. Deepfakes, which involve the use of artificial intelligence to create realistic-looking but fabricated videos or images, can be a serious threat when used for spreading misinformation or false narratives.

In a deepfake video, Tendulkar is seen promoting an online game called Skyward Aviator Quest, giving the example of his daughter, Sara, earning Rs 1.8 lakh per day by making predictions in the game. After this video became viral, Sachin Tendulkar posted on his social media platform, clarifying that he had nothing to do with the said video and that it was manipulated.

He writes: “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes.”

Tendulkar's call for vigilance and swift action is crucial in addressing the issue. Tendulkar has taken a proactive approach by calling out the fake video and urging people to report such content. This incident further emphasizes the need for increased awareness, technological solutions, and robust measures to counter the negative impact of deepfakes and protect individuals from identity fraud.

In his post, Tendulkar also alerted Ministry of Electronics & IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State, and Maharashtra Cyber Crime.

Sometimes back, Alia Bhat and Rashmika Mandhana have also been victims of such deepfakes videos.
