Scam 1992 bags a nomination at the SXSW Film Festival

Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, based on the book ‘The Scam’, produced by the prolific content studio Applause Entertainment has been winning hearts thanks to its riveting storyline, performances and gripping title track. Adding yet another feather to its hat, the show has bagged a nomination at the distinguished SXSW Film Festival for the category of Excellence in Title Deign. Being the only Indian amongst the list, the show shares space with worthy contenders including Queen’s Gambit, Birds Of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, and the 100. Featuring provocative dramas, documentaries, comedies, genre standouts and more, the SXSW Film Festival has become known for the high caliber and diversity of films presented, and for its smart, enthusiastic audiences.

Set in early nineties Bombay, the show captures the meteoric rise and the steep fall of Harshad Mehta- the flamboyant Big Bull of the stock market, and the investigation and repercussions of the scam that shook the nation. A financial journalist Sucheta Dalal broke the story of India’s 500 Crore securities scam on 23rd April 1992. Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story boasts of a stellar cast including Pratik Gandhi, Shreya Dhanwathary, Hemant Kher, Chirag Vohra, Anjali Barot, Brinda Trivedi, Jay Upadhyay, Sharib Hashmi, Satish Kaushik, Anant Mahadevan, Rajat Kapoor, Nikhil Dwivedi, K K Raina and Lalit Parimoo and is directed by National Award winning director Hansal Mehta. ‘The Scam’ is based on one of the most famous scams in the Indian financial markets and is authored by well-known journalists Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu.
