Sheyphali B Sharan becomes the PDG of PIB

Sheyphali B Sharan has officially become the Principal Director General (PDG) of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), following a recent announcement. This change signifies the conclusion of Manish Desai's tenure as PDG, which ended on March 31st. Since the Narendra Modi administration assumed office in 2014, Sharan has become the first woman to lead the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the fifth overall, following in the footsteps of Neelam Kapoor, Deepak Sandhu, Shakuntala Mahawal, and N J Krishna. She served as the Election Commission's spokesperson during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections and has held prominent communication roles, including Chief Communication Officer at the Railway Ministry and spokesperson for the Finance Ministry.
