Spirit W | Honesty, quality, integrity are the basic tenets: id8 Media's Tanya Swetta

Tanya Swetta, Jt. MD, id8 Media Solutions, comes from a background that is far flung from the echelons of the media and communications space. Having graduated with a double major in psychology and philosophy, she went on to complete her formal education with a post graduation diploma in communications with a specialization in Public Relations and Brand Management. Apart from being an avid reader and follower of world markets, she loves to travel and explore new cultures, places and people, believing that this is the best education anyone can get!
Adgully caught up with Tanya Swetta to understand her life, strategies and goals.

Swetta believes that being a brand consultant allows one to constantly keep learning about new industries and how businesses work and also makes you grow intuitively because of the diverse personalities you come across. The two things that made her pick this profession was the excitement and pace of the medium. She says, “My passion is to learn, grow and keep evolving and hence my chosen profession.”

Speaking about the challenges in the industry she said, “There are challenges in every industry and since brand consultants are a part of the economy at large, the biggest challenge we face are policy making, taxes and value of best practices in India for the service industry.”

Founded in 2000, id8 has done some great work and been instrumental in the brand building process of many well known brands today.  Every idea and plan created has been unique and a first for the industry. “I love working with bright intelligent minds which is a norm at id8. Honesty, quality and integrity are the basic tenets  here,” she adds.

According to her the key strengths that are required are public relations, digital media, events conceptualization and education, media management and business development strategies.

Describing some media moments Swetta says, “By far some of the most intelligent yet humble people I have met are journalists, writers, photographers, editors and publishers.  I have been lucky to cultivate firm friendships and have also faced some unforgettably bad scenarios.  Life is full of ups and downs and this applies to me too.”

The woman who inspires her the most is her mother who she describes as independent, intelligent, strong, fashionable and charming - all woman power!  Swetta says, “I think there are some great leaders such as Mother Teresa, Indira Nooyi and Michelle Obama who have and will continue to give women across the world an aspiration to be like them.”

Her goal is to be healthy, wealthy and wise be it regarding her work or her family. She opined that talent and consistency, whether in a man or woman gives one the edge.

When asked if the media industry lacks organizationally, she opines that this is a growing and evolving industry and a lot of steps have been taken towards more structure and this is what she hopes will continue to happen in the future.

On the personal front Swetta good humouredly said that five years down the line she sees herself, “Five years older…. but also a more evolved, calmer and a more graceful person.”
