Spirit W | Success largely depends upon an individual and not on the gender: Montage Advertising's Nidhi Arora

Here we go¦with one more lady to follow the league of those who never planned their career in advertising. Adgully spoke to Nidhi Arora, Group Head (Account planning & management), Montage Advertising who never thought of doing something in advertising space but wanted to do something really different in her life.

She says, "I never planned a career in advertising. It happened by chance. Being a rebel, I was very clear from the beginning that I wanted to do something that was different from what others of my generation in my family were doing."

Almost everyone was going for IT as a career but it wasn't meant for her. She decided to go with the flow & began her career with an event management company. Nidhi said, "I did one high profile international event with them but I wasn't very happy with the environment in that organization. I was looking for a change & that's when Montage happened. And I've been here since then."

Pointing out some of her work that she is very proud of, she said, "I've been associated with Liberty since the beginning of my advertising career & I'm very proud of the way we've handled the brand."

Today Liberty stands at a stage where one can see it growing to the levels everyone wanted it to. But the most memorable campaign with Liberty has been the current campaign with Hrithik Roshan.

Nidhi added, "A lot has gone in to the planning & execution of this campaign and it was a great experience working with Mr. Roshan. We've got very good response from both market and media industry."

Women like Indira Nooyi, inspire Nidhi. "Simply because when I see her or read about her, my belief is strengthened that it's no longer a man's world," she said.

Nidhi believes that women in general are better at multi-tasking and she thinks they're better managers. Women have higher levels of concentration and that gives them an edge over men in any industry. She says, "I don't like gender bias against women and therefore won't say anything to come across as supporting gender bias against men also. Success largely depends upon an individual & not on the gender."

When asked what media industry lacks organizationally, she was of the opinion that the attrition rate in this industry is an area of concern and it can be attributed to organizational issues.

Conclusively she said, "I think one advantage of working with Montage has been that it has allowed me to be me. And whatever I've heard from my colleagues about myself, I think I'm perceived as what I actually am so there's nothing much that I would like to change. The only thing I want to say here is that sometimes I may come across as little cold but that's just because I can't stand people who're not honest towards their work."

Nidhi, a hardcore delhiite, born & brought up in Delhi, loves her independence to think, take decisions & act and also likes to give her best to anything & everything that she does . When free, she loves to give and spent time with her family.
