Star Jalsha celebrates eternal love with ‘Tumi Ashe Pashe Thakle’

Star Jalsha has fortified its content line-up with a new show – ‘Tumi Ashe Pashe Thakle’. Premiered on November 3, 2023, ‘Tumi Ashe Pashe Thakle’ conveys the message of unconditional love and celebrates eternal romance. The show, which airs every Monday to Sunday at 8 pm, is directed by Anupam Hari and produced under SVF.

‘Tumi Ashe Pashe Thakle’ is the story of Dev (Rohan Bhattacharya) and Paro (newcomer Angana Roy), two lovers and childhood friends who get separated due to an unfortunate incident, when Paro dies in a train accident. However, even death couldn’t keep the two lowers apart. This show is a reminder that amidst the temporary connections existing in this day and age, true love stands the test of time and is everlasting.

Speaking to Adgully, Anupam Hari, director of ‘Tumi Ashe Pashe Thakle’, said, “This is a very good and different experience for me, because we have come up with a unique storyline. After writing a story, bringing alive the characters and enlivening the story so that people can relate to it, are big challenges for any director. And the people based on whom a director lives are the hero and the heroine. In that respect, I’m lucky to have Rohan and Angana. They are very promising and I hope that the amount of effort that they are putting into their roles, besides the way they are portraying their roles on camera, will be considered as kind of differentiated work.”

Continuing further, he said, “The idea was to create a love story that is different from the rest of the love stories that are seen. The story of Dev and Paro is a signature love story in Bengal, based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel ‘Devdas’. The characters of that novel – Dev and Paro – are very common, and to create an uncommon story with these common characters is the USP of this show. We will present such a story, which will be regarded as the story of Dev and Paro, and not of ‘Devdas’. So, the basic idea was to present a love story in a distinctive way.”

On his character of Dev in the show, actor Rohan Bhattacharya said, “Dev is a character who is very lovable. I’d always wanted to play a character like this. For so long when I was not on TV, many people used to ask me when I would be back, I used to say that if I liked a character which is a bit different from others, I would do that, and in Dev I got such a character.”

“Besides, I’m grateful for the team that I have got. While everything may seem easy for me, it is not so simple as it is a very difficult show that people might have not seen earlier on television. I am very thankful towards my director and DOP as they are managing everything so well. We are looking so good on screen! I’m very happy to play this character and I have got so many good comments and appreciation after the promo was out,” he added.

On being asked how much he resonates with the character of Dev, Bhattacharya said, “I very much relate to this character. Dev is a very lovable character, and he loves to love, and I, too, believe greatly in love. To be honest, if there was no love in my life, then I would not have been alive. Be it love for anyone, such as my parents, friends, pets. So, this is a big similarity between me and Dev.”

Angana Roy, who is making her debut on television with this show, said, “Paro is a very fun-loving person. Her love is very deep and there are many shades to her character. People will enjoy watching this character on screen. This is my first time on television, previously I have done films, and everyone used to ask when I would do television, and I used to answer that I would do so the moment I get a suitable character to play. I am extremely grateful to Star Jalsha and SVF that this kind of a character has been given to me as it is a beautiful character. Paro talks a lot, and I think by now I have gone into the character.”

On being asked how she prepared for her role, Roy said, “We had a couple of meetings, where we discussed about how we can develop the characters. It is not like we have prepared for the roles by taking a lot of time, we are enhancing our characters every day.”
