Steve Backshall Special premiers this Saturday on Sony BBC Earth

It is said that jobs fill your pocket but adventures fill your soul. And there are some adventures that are so extreme – with no shortcuts or limits – that exhilarate the soul. Sony BBC Earth presents three shows, featuring ace wildlife enthusiast, adventurer and presenter Steve Backshall, that will take you on an unimaginable journey of extreme adventures from November 18, Saturday and Sunday at 9PM.

First up is Steve Backshall’s Extreme Mountain Challenge where he and his team attempt to explore the ancient, sheer-sided mountains and lost worlds cut off from the jungle below. The team encounters strange creatures and ancient mysteries, making it a supremely intriguing journey.

Next up is Steve Backshall’s Extreme River Challenge where he sets out to explore one of the wildest rivers in the world, the mighty Baliem River in the island of New Guinea, just north of Australia. In this series, he is on a mission to discover the ancient tribes that live along its banks and meet the dangerous animals lurking in the river and the surrounding jungles. Steve also attempts to trap one of the world’s biggest saltwater crocodiles!

The deadliest encounter comes next with hair-raising adventure in Deadly 60 on a Mission: Pole to Pole. For the first time ever, Steve looks at deadly forces of nature, from exploding super volcanoes to mighty glaciers and travels with his crew from the Arctic to the Atlantic in search of the world’s deadliest wildlife.

Witness Steve Backshall accomplish the world’s most extreme, adrenaline-pumping & unpredictable adventures, that no one has ever dared to attempt only on Sony BBC Earth. #FeelAlive
