Students prefer a glamorous looking partner to date: Bausch & Lomb findings

Students prefer hanging-out with a casual looking person but when it comes to dating their preference changes to a glamorous look. The trend has come out of a research commissioned by Bausch + Lomb to understand the youth preferences among the three common looks on campus (Glamorous, Casual and Studious) and the choice of corresponding eye-gear (contact lenses , Sun Glasses and Spectacles). The research was conducted with over 300 DU students by the renowned research agency, IMRB.

The survey was conducted among an equal mix of males and females from Science, Commerce and Arts courses.

Another interesting finding of the survey was association of various eye gears like contact lenses and spectacles to the prevalent popular looks. 50% percent of the respondents associated contact lenses with a "Glamorous' look and 62% students felt wearing spectacles makes one look "Studious'. Casual look is associated both with spectacle wearers and contact lens wearers equally. (Detailed outcomes in an attached document)

Speaking about the research, Sunil Gadgil, GM, Marketing (Vision care), Bausch + Lomb Bausch + Lomb India said, "The aim of conducting the research was to understand the type of look that students prefer in college and the corresponding eye-gear which they associate most closely with those looks. The survey has come-up with some very interesting trends about the youth of today and also breaks some conventional beliefs about their preferences. The survey findings have been very helpful for us in understanding the mind-set and preferences of our target consumer."

Speaking about the research, Dipankar Sen, Group Business Director, IMRB, said - "Over 300 students from were covered in the research and face-to face interview format was used to get the responses from the students. It took us around two-weeks to compile the study and the findings have revealed some very interesting trends about the behavior of the youth"
