India's love affair with biryani continued, with an astounding 2.5 biryanis ordered per second throughout the year. Interestingly, for every 5.5 chicken biryanis, there was one veg biryani ordered, emphasizing the universal appeal of this beloved dish.


Biryani mania reached new heights, with 2.49 million users making their Swiggy debut by placing a biryani order. The platform witnessed an incredible 40,30,827 searches for biryani, underlining its popularity as a go-to choice for food enthusiasts. Regional preferences also played a significant role, with Hyderabad leading the charge as every 6th biryani was ordered from this city. A standout user from Hyderabad took the crown by ordering a staggering 1633 biryanis in a single year, averaging more than four biryanis per day. Special occasions fueled biryani orders, as demonstrated by a nail-biting India Vs. Pak World Cup match. A family in Chandigarh ordered a whopping 70 plates of biryani in one go during the match, contributing to Swiggy's impressive rate of over 250 biryani orders per minute. Mumbai added a touch of extravagance to the mix with a single order totaling ₹42.3 lakh, showcasing the diversity in order values on the platform. Loyalty was also a notable aspect, with user accounts in Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad each surpassing 10,000 orders. This highlights the strong and consistent customer base in these cities, reaffirming Swiggy's position as a reliable food delivery giant.
