The 5th edition of CNN-IBN Indian of the Year is making its way in

The biggest and most credible awards in Indian Media ' "CNN-IBN Indian of the Year - 2010' in partnership with Hindustan Times is back for its 5th edition. This prestigious Award conducted by CNN-IBN recognizes those Indian(s) whose contribution to the country in the current calendar year has strengthened the foundation of our society and has helped build Brand India in the process.

These iconic Indians who are the source of inspiration to millions of Indian citizens are chosen from five different categories - Politics, Sports, Entertainment, Business and Public Service

The selection process adheres to a unique and transparent 4-tier selection process which includes nominations from the Network18 editorial board, ratified by the Jury, and the voting by the Electoral College and the Citizens of the country.

Instituted in the year 2006, "CNN-IBN Indian of the Year' has been the benchmark for credibility and transparency providing complete information about why the nominees were selected and how the winners were declared. This credible platform aspires to become the highest civilian honour outside those awarded by the Government. This is best illustrated by the fact CNN-IBN Indian of the Year awards have gone on to become the much awaited and the most anticipated awards of the year. The financial giant IFCI Limited continues to be the presenting sponsor for this year as well.

The exquisitely crafted "CNN-IBN Indian of the Year' trophy contains more than 5000 crystals from Crystallized Swarovski Elements, who have been partners to this initiative since inception.

The recipients of the prestigious "CNN-IBN Indian of the Year' since its inception have been Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2006, E Sreedharan GM Metro Mail in 2007, G. Madhavan Nair, ISRO Chairman in 2008 and Musical Maestro A R Rahman in 2009.
