The thriller 'War of the Worlds' only on &pictures

Keeping up with its endeavor of providing its viewers with fresh and clutter-breaking content, India's premium mass Hindi movie channel - &pictures - will air the revolutionary Oscar nominated Hollywood sci-fi film, ‘War of the Worlds’ as part of its ongoing ‘Hollywood Sunday’ series. Premiering on &pictures, audiences will get a chance to view the blockbuster film in Hindi on Sunday, January 10th at 12 noon.

Directed by one of the most influential film personalities, Steven Spielberg, the film is based on a novel and stars Hollywood’s heartthrob Tom Cruise along with Dakota Fanning, Justin Chatwin and Miranda Otto. Known for his distinctively deep baritone, the movie is narrated by the legendary actor-narrator Morgan Freeman. Shot in 73 days, using five different sound stages as well as locations in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Virginia, ‘War of the Worlds’ was one of the most successful film in 2005 and also one of the highest grossing films starring Tom Cruise.

‘War of Worlds’ revolves around a family which fights for their survival as the earth is invaded by aliens. Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) is a divorced dockworker who is estranged from his children. However, when his ex-wife Mary Ann (Miranda Otto) leaves his teenage son Robbie (Justin Chatwin) and young daughter Rachel (Dakota Fanning) with him for a rare weekend visit, a strange and powerful lightning storm suddenly hits the town. Ray sees a massive three-legged war machine with alien weaponry. What follows next is an extraordinary battle for the survival of mankind from the extraterrestrials.
