TOI recognises achievements of women trailblazers with special awards

India continues to be a land of opportunities offering excellent scope for those who want to turn entrepreneurs. The year 2019, especially has led the way in the world’s most innovative and successful entrepreneurial ventures by women. Today’s women are choosing to work differently and breaking away from the stereotypical professions to follow their dreams and passions.  They are creating new business opportunities with unique ideas right from their living rooms. The journeys of many such women entrepreneurs who started off from their own homes, is always an inspiration to many.

Celebrating the incredible phenomenon of women trailblazers, The Times of India, leading news media publisher of the country with Times She UnLTD. Entrepreneur Awards, powered by Senco Gold & diamonds felicitated women entrepreneurs of Mumbai in the category of food, fashion and beauty respectively. In its first chapter, the awards focused on inspirational stories of women entrepreneurs, who stepped into the unknown with their out-of-the-box business ideas and creative work-spaces. It is a celebration of the fierce and fearless women, who have put everything on the line to build and grow their businesses, in pursuit of their passion. The women entrepreneurs have achieved the impossible balance between home and work, those who have not only emerged as multi-taskers but are multi-achievers. They have set up their empires from scratch and set out from home to rule the world.

The achievers across the four cities were chosen by an esteemed and noteworthy jury panel including the likes of Sanjeev Kapoor, Shantanu & Nikhil, Rahul Mishra, Ambika Pillai, Dorris Godambe, Rashmi Uday Singh, Riyaaz Amlani & Aalim Hakim amongst others, who brought their expertise in their respective fields to determine the winners. The four-month long campaign was widely covered across TOI’s metro supplement brands - Bombay Times, Delhi Times, Gurgaon Times, Noida Times, Chennai Times and Bangalore Times. The campaign received an overwhelming 5000 applications, 2000 nominations and 3 million online votes on the official website.

The initiative garnered an overwhelming response of women from all walks of life; the participation witnessed incredible stories of women in their personal and professional pursuit of fulfilling their ambitions through entrepreneurship. The amazing array of participants ranged from women who have made the shift from corporate careers to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams, moms who launched innovative products to meet the needs of their kids, homemakers who conjured up unique ideas right from their homes and not to forget women with technical degrees from some of the most reputed institutes from across the world, who chose to make a difference with their ventures. And it was indeed a tough job for our jury members to read through the stories of these most amazing women, meet the shortlisted candidates face to face over several weeks, and finally choose the winners.
