Tonight watch Special Operations: India ‘Surgical Strikes’ HISTORY TV18

On 18 September 2016, four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists attacked an Indian Army Garrison in the town of Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. Nineteen Indian soldiers were martyred in the Fidayeen attack. Eleven days later, the Indian Army carried out a series of deadly strikes across the Line of Control. This Counter Terrorist Operation is better known as the Surgical Strikes.

Two years on, HISTORY TV18 is dedicating a special, updated anniversary edition of the ground-breaking documentary Special Operations: India ‘Surgical Strikes’ at 7 pm and 9 pm on 28th September 2018, to mark the second anniversary of India’s retaliatory strikes on terrorist launch-pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. The Anniversary Special features actual images of India’s counter-terrorist military surveillance, reconnaissance and visuals of the surgical strikesSome of the visuals in the documentary have never been seen before on television.

The documentary brings to life the secret mission, with dramatic recreations, newly released images, and first-person accounts of the key decision makers in the government, military top brass and Indian Special Forces, leading the operation.

The programme features some of the most respected names in India’s National Security Establishment. Mr. Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor to the Government of India; Mr. Manohar Parrikar, former Defence Minister; General Dalbir Singh former Chief of Army Staff; Lt. General DS Hooda, former  Commander of the Northern Army. They reveal what actually happened behind the scenes and on the ground. The story of the mission is reconstructed blow by blow, based on the accounts of the operatives and Commanding Officer of the Indian Army’s Special Forces, who led the counter terror strikes in PoK. The identities of the special forces operatives have been kept concealed for security reasons. Defence analyst and author, Nitin Gokhale also shares his views on thesurgical strikes.
