Durga Puja is the biggest festival in the state of West Bengal, and every year along with the festivities, every Bengali looks forward to the Puja releases. Byomkesh Gowtro directed by Arindam Sil, revolves around the popular Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi who prefers the term “Satyanweshi” rather than a detective, as it means “truth seeker” which is his ulterior motive. Essaying the role is the suave Abir Chatterjee who has been portraying Bakshi since 2010. Arindam Sil is returning with a Byomkesh film after 2 years, so this has the Bengali audience and Byomkesh fans at their highest excitement level. The film also stars Anjan Dutt, Sohini Sarkar, Arjun Chakrabarty, Rahul Banerjee, Harsh Chhaya, Baishakhi Marjit, Saurasheni Maitra, etc in pivotal roles.
Ek Je Chhilo Raja, the next directorial venture by Srijit Mukherji, who is known for his sentimental or intriguing choice of stories for his film, has based his latest on the controversial Bhawal Sanyasi case which rocked the nation. The 16-year old long battle between the man claiming to be Bhawal Raja (who died because of Syphillus thus, returning from the dead) to claim his kingdom from the British and his wife and brother-in-law who asserted to have witnessed his death thus, refusing to acknowledge this. The role is being essayed by the versatile Jisshu U Sengupta, who likes taking up challenging roles.
