URPopular bags digital media mandate for Afghanistan Premier League

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s ambitious APL has entrusted Mumbai-based URPopular with its online media content and media buying mandates.

The tournament, Afghanistan Premier League (APL), is a highly anticipated event for both the native cricket fans and players. Just last year, Afghanistan had graduated to become the youngest member of the ICC. And now the news of APL has stoked the cricketing world as the event will see superstars Rashid Khan, Brendon McCullum,, Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Andre Russell, and many more in attendance.

Ashish Sethi, chief executive officer, Snixer Sports (Organising Committee, APL), says in a press release, “Taking on such liability (APL) is a big commitment but the high risk will bring high reward. And that’s why we wanted a media partner who understands the nuances involved in such dynamic marketing ventures.” He added, “URPopular has impressed us with the innovation streak that it promises through its platforms. Not to mention, its behemoth influencer base will only take us closer to make this a People’s League.”

The network will carry out APL’s media responsibilities out of their Mumbai office. Speaking on the association, Kumaresh Bhatt, Co founder and CEO, URPopular, quotes, “Despite the entire technological boom in the media realm, advertisers tend to forget that the real medium remains the people they are talking to. The power of marketing lies in democratizing marketing- which URPopular is doing in a tech savvy way. You mobilise people in the right way and that’s all the push your product/offering will need, ever”. Siddharth Sinha, Co Founder and Creative director ads URPopular focuses on this innate human behaviour. Furthering the thought, Siddharth mentioned “APL is pegged to be a great achiever and for it to be touted as one of the top 3 leagues in the world, it requires meticulous planning and human insight-based campaigns. A feat that’s entirely possible with our product. And we couldn’t be happier to make that happen!” he signs off.

APL will be played between October 5 and October 21 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Five teams will participate in the inaugural edition, representing cities of Kabul, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Balkh and Paktia.
