Verizon named as Global Service Provider of the Year by the MEF

Verizon has been named Global Service Provider of the Year by the MEF. Verizon was cited for innovation in developing and delivering carrier Ethernet services worldwide.

The MEF also recognized Verizon for Best Marketing for its leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of carrier Ethernet services in the Asia-Pacific region.

Andrew Dobbins, vice president, Verizon Business Asia-Pacific, said: "Our portfolio of Ethernet services continued to gain strong momentum in 2010, as businesses look to Ethernet solutions to support their expanding footprints across the world, including Asia, the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and into other emerging markets. These awards are a validation of our capabilities in this segment, and testament to the strength of our Ethernet solutions portfolio."

The company in 2010 announced the addition of Global Managed Ethernet to its Managed Services portfolio, enabling customers to combine the power of multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) and Ethernet in a fully managed end-to-end global networking solution.

MEF President Nan Chen said: "In 2010, we saw service providers make great strides in this growth segment of the telecommunications industry. Verizon, in particular, impressed the judges by differentiating its services from other service providers and with its expansive global Ethernet services coverage, including interconnects with other service providers."

The annual MEF awards are judged by a panel of selected global and regional industry experts. Judging in the Global Service Provider category was based on carrier Ethernet providers with the highest cumulative score for all categories plus an additional score for global Ethernet services coverage.

Verizon is a global leader in driving better business outcomes for mid-sized and large enterprises and government agencies. Verizon combines integrated communications and IT solutions, professional services expertise with high-IQ global IP and mobility networks to enable businesses to securely access information, share content and communicate.
