Veteran Editor TR Gopalakrishnan, in charge of The Week, pases away

TR Gopalakrishnan, fondly known as TRG, passed away at the age of 72.

He dedicated 34 years of his career to The Week, significantly contributing to its ascent as a leading English news magazine.

Initially trained in engineering at IIT Kanpur, he pivoted to journalism in 1974, commencing his journey as a reporter at Motherland under the Jan Sangh party. Prior to his tenure at The Week, TRG worked for publications like This Fortnight and Real India, even exploring the realm of Mumbai showbiz briefly. He hailed from a family deeply rooted in journalism, with both his father, TV Rajagopalan, and mother, Vijayalakshmi, having connections to the field.

His passing occurred 72 days subsequent to the demise of his wife, Geetha Srinivasan, in September 2023.
