Viacom18 wins TV and digital rights for BCCI bilateral matches

Viacom18 has won TV and digital rights for BCCI bilateral matches.
The BCCI conducted an auction for the media rights covering both television and digital platforms for the upcoming five-year period of bilateral matches to be held in India.

Apart from Viacom18, the other bidders are Disney Star, and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).
Last time, BCCI secured a substantial ₹48,390 crore during the 2023-27 IPL (Indian Premier League) rights cycle. This impressive amount encompassed ₹23,575 crore from Disney Star for TV rights and ₹23,757 crore from Viacom18 for exclusive digital rights.

Subsequently, during the auction for ICC (International Cricket Council) rights over a four-year period, Disney Star once again actively participated and secured the rights for a staggering $3.03 billion. Following this, they made the decision to keep the digital rights exclusively, opting to sub-license the TV rights to Zee Entertainment Enterprises for approximately $1.4 billion.

Meanwhile, congratulating the winners of the recently held BCCI e-auction for the bilateral media rights, NP Singh, MD & CEO, Sony Pictures Networks India, said, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the BCCI for a transparent and efficient e-bidding process and to the winners for securing the bilateral media rights. Our disciplined bid was grounded in market forecasts and a long-term growth strategy. We remain committed to delivering top-tier sporting entertainment as we continue to see growing enthusiasm across various sports genres.”
