Vikrant Massey on his success and latest film 12th Fail

Vikrant Massey took the decision to bid farewell to television for greener pastures of films in Bollywood. It was a big decision, but with time he has proved that with his talent, the risk and the decision was worthwhile.
From Chhapak to Broken But Beautiful to Mirzapur, this Versova (Mumbai) guy has proved that he is here to stay. It is after 3.5 years the audience will get to see him in his film ‘12th Fail’ which has released in the theatres.
Asked about his career so far, Vikrant Massey replied: “Right now I am working in some great projects. Personally also I am going through an exciting phase. Whatever I have asked in life I have always got more than that. People who have seen me from my early days are happy watching my growth. I have been blessed and this is the payback time for me now. I believe I have been privileged, and I want to be the voice of voiceless people, a commoner.”

Speaking about his own 12th Board studies and result, he says: “I have started working quite early in my life - after my 10th board exams I joined Shimak Davar group and started working as well. And since first year of junior college, I started working in television. So, my 12th result was not great.”

Vikrant Massey has always portrayed brilliant characters and when asked whether it has pressurized him, he replied: “Honestly whenever I pray to God, I always think about my audience who loves me. I am scared, whether they will like my role or the story which I am doing. Where I have reached today is all because of my performance. I believe I have a standard to keep and I should be worth people’s time and money. Sometime you fail, sometime you pass but you need to move on. In the last few years, I had great expectations from couple of my projects but they didn’t work. But it’s always about keeping your chin-up and moving ahead.”
12th Fail is a film which talks about our education system and corruption. Could Vikrant relate to this character? On this, he shares: “I have given bribes twice, once when I was a minor and did not have a driving licence. I used to take out my friend’s scooter and drive around. However, I realised at an early age that taking and giving bribe is wrong. I sometime don’t like the power play and I have expressed this in my social media platform as well. Sometimes, I have fought for little amount of money because it’s my hard earned money.”
When asked whether, the power play in the industry bothers him, he shares: “I always had the self confidence and this doesn’t bother me. Power play in the industry was always there and will always be there.”

Vikrant is someone who used to be quite active on social media but not anymore! Sharing the reasons, he says: “When it all started I thought it will be a lot of free knowledge and information. But gradually the place has become very different. Agreeing to disagreeing is always a sign of a healthy society but social media doesn’t allow that. Especially, for the youth this is very bad.”
While concluding, Vikrant shares it was a great working experience with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and this role in his career will always be most special. He feels this lovely story is relatable to each and everyone, from the director to him. He says: “Hope is a universal concept and one should believe in it.”
