Ashish Bhasin retires from dentsu international, headed to Harvard

Ashish Bhasin, CEO - APAC and Chairman India, dentsu international, has retired from the group after a tenure of a little over 13 and a half years. To manage this transition, Simon Jones, CFO APAC and Belli Mathanda, COO APAC will work closely with dentsu’s global CEO, Wendy Clark. In India, Peter Huijboom will continue his interim, day-to-day leadership of the business with the India leadership team, while dentsu is in the final stages of its search and appointment of a new CEO in India.

NTO 2.0: Time ripe for developing a broadcaster self-regulatory body

An alternative to TRAI or a mechanism that is in sync with the changing times is the need of the hour, say industry experts, given the kind of intrusive ways in which the broadcast industry continues to be managed. Calls for an alternative mechanism gains even more prominence, especially in view of the controversies surrounding NTO 2.0. Industry stakeholders are of the opinion that deregulating the industry will be the best way forward.

NTO 2.0: TRAI extends implementation deadline to April 1, 2022

In the latter sent to the stakeholders TRAI said: “In view of the complexities and magnitude of processes involved and keeping in view of the past experiences, it would be prudent that sufficient time should be given for migration of consumers to New Regulatory Framework 2020 to avoid any inconvenience to consumers. Nykaa made its debut on the bourses today and its Initial Public Offer (IPO) was subscribed 82 times. The beauty start-up, founded by ex-Kotak Bank’s Falguni Nayar, saw its market capitalisation cross Rs 1 lakh crore. Nykaa sold its shares via the IPO over a three-day period.

As per the committee’s report, the Chairperson of BARC, members of the BARC Board as well as nominees of the stakeholder bodies should not only be persons of eminence with impeccable credentials in corporate governance, but should also be someone without conflicts of interest. Further, the nominee for BARC Chairperson should have no other full-time responsibilities. Articles of Association have to be amended to ensure the same, the committee said.

ZEEL Q2 FY2022 revenue up 14.9% at Rs 19,788 mn; ZEE5’s MAUs reach 93.2 mn

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd has reported 14.9% growth in its revenues for the second quarter ended September 30, 2021 at Rs 19,788 million, from Rs 17,227 million in Q2 FY2021. ZEE5, the OTT platform from ZEEL, added 13 million new monthly active users (MAUs) during the quarter to reach 93.2 million from Q1 FY2022. ZEE5 recorded 186 minutes of average watch time per viewer per month in Q2.

SunTV may invest Rs 1-1.5 bn in OTT platform post March 2022

SunTV’s overall revenues grew 9.6% YoY (up 2.3% QoQ; up 4.2% versus pre-COVID levels) to Rs 8,287 million, better than Rs 7,562 million estimated. Ad revenues positively surprised, growing 39.8% YoY to Rs 3,417 million (up 40% QoQ; up 1.4% versus pre-COVID levels) Non-ad revenues decelerated 5% YoY (up 6.2% versus pre-COVID levels) to Rs 4,869 million.
