Big-tech & Metaverse Part 1 - Will tech giants be the gatekeepers of Metaverse?

‘Snow Crash’, the now-famous 1993 science-fiction novel that coined the term ‘Metaverse’, talks about the domination of a single enterprise named the Global Multimedia Protocols Group. In real life will we see such an entity (or entities) dominating the metaverse? Will big tech players like Google and Meta become gatekeepers of metaverse?
