WhatsApp suffers longest global outage, services now restored

WhatsApp suffered its longest global outage today, when it remained inaccessible for users for well over an hour. Users were unable to send and receive messages in text as well as video in different parts of the world.

Downdetector, a well-known service that records outages across websites and applications, revealed that it there were over 25,000 reports of WhatsApp being unavailable.

Posts about users not being able to send messages on Whatsapp took centerstage on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram from users all over the world.

Users reported started noticing problems with WhatsApp at 12:30 pm IST, when they tried to send messages to group chats.

The parent company of WhatsApp, Meta, stated that it was aware of the problem and was working to get services back up for everyone.
