Why you should read Harsh Pamnani’s ‘Booming Brands’

A self-dubbed brand storyteller, Harsh Pamnani left his corporate career spanning of 14 years to pursue his passion - brand storytelling. He has written about branding based on his learning from Indian entrepreneurship ecosystem and professional experience at companies like Deloitte, HSBC, Cognizant, The World Bank, TiE and FirstCry, an e-commerce platform for kids and baby products. He focuses on homegrown young Indian brands that have emerged in the 21st century.

In 2018, he published the first volume of ‘Booming Brands’ that recounted the journeys of BookMyShow, BYJU’S, Shaadi.com, FirstCry, Su-Kam, Goli Vada Pav, PaGaLGuY, Paper Boat, Elephant Design, Zomato and Jayaashree by Arunachalam Muruganantham (Pad Man). Coming from a marketing background, Pamnani deconstructs the brand building aspects of these businesses which makes for both an engaging read and will inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

In Volume 2 of ‘Booming Brands’, published in March, Pamnani unravels the brand stories of OYO, PolicyBazaar, Zoomcar, JoshTalks, ShareChat, Epigamia, BigBasket, Hidesign, Super 30, Quikr and Portea. We can see from this list that Pamnani has covered a spectrum of brands based in different categories thus offering the reader a rich perspective of how innovation and marketing strategy can help young brands grow fast.

If nothing else, ‘Booming Brands’ encompasses an anthropological study of how Indian society has evolved and the brands that have sprung to cater to these evolved needs. But don’t take our word for it, the book published by CNBC has received high praise from several leaders in both industry and government.
