Zee Cinema brings to you the unforgettable bond of 'Jai and Veeru' in the cult classic 'Sholay'

Even after 40 years of its release, the characters and dialogues of Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay are etched into our memories. Zee Cinema, the world’s biggest theatre for Hindi movies brings the classic cult of all times on Shanivar Ki Raat Superstars Ke Saath – SHOLAY on Saturday, 17th October at 8:00 PM. Be it Basanti’s ‘Kyunke mujhe befuzool baat karne ki aadat to hai nahin’ or Gabbar Singh’s booming voice philosophizing, ‘Jo darr gaya samjho margaya’ the movie continues to be a favourite throughout generations.

The movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles holds a first-time record of running successfully for five years at Mumbai's Minerva theatre. Not many know that during the making of Sholay, four of the leads became romantically involved. While Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya Bhaduri four months before filming started, Dharmendra had begun wooing Hema Malini. During their romantic scenes, he would pay the light boys to spoil the shot, thereby ensuring retakes.

Sholay sets the story in the village of Ramgarh, where retired police Chief Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) plots to bring down the notorious bandit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) and enlists the help of two lesser criminals, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra). When Gabbar attacks the village, Jai and Veeru wonder why Thakur does nothing to help them. They soon learn that he has no arms, and that Gabbar was the one who cut them off.

After listening to Thakur’s story, will Jai and Veeru redouble their efforts to help the villagers of Ramgarh?

~ Tune-in to Zee Cinema to witness the movie of the century, 'Sholay' on Saturday, 17th October at 8:00 PM~
