Zee Classic present 'Mrityudand' on January 22

Adhering to its core proposition ‘Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana’, Zee Classic is all set to premiere ‘Mrityudand’ on Friday, 22nd January at 7 PM. Directed by the award winning director Prakash Jha, the film focuses on the social problems that plague the state of Bihar. The film features the Queen of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit, Shabana Azmi, and Om Puri in lead roles and is supported by Ayub Khan, Mohan Joshi, Mohan Agashe, and Harish Patel. The film also boasts of semi-classical music by Anand-Milind and Raghunath Seth with lyrics (what is worded?) by Javed Akhtar.

Mrityudand is set in a village of Bihar, and revolves around a young couple, Vinay (Ayub Khan) and Ketki (Madhuri Dixit). Two corrupt and heartless panchayat leaders, Tirpat Singh (Mohan Joshi) and his colleague Durga Pandey (Harish Patel), start using the helpless Vinay for their own benefits. On the other hand, Ketaki's brother-in-law, Abhay Singh (Mohan Agashe) starts leading  a life of a priest leaving his wife Chandravati (Shabana Azmi) all alone. Ketki unites all the women in the village and decides to put an end to the atrocities inflicted on them by the village panchayat. This enrages the men in the village and they want to kill Ketki and Chandravati. This battle turns ugly with the unfortunate death of Vinay in a bomb blast.

Will Ketki and Chandravati be successful in their mission or will the evil men continue the inhuman activities against the women of this village?
